Gland Size and Shape
Normal Thyroid: Typically, the thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ located at the front of the neck. Normal dimensions vary, but generally, each lobe of the thyroid is 4-6 cm long and 1.3-1.8 cm thick.
Enlargement: An enlarged thyroid, known as a goiter, may be diffuse or nodular. Diffuse enlargement often suggests a generalised thyroid disease such as Graves’ disease or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

Echogenicity
